Coolio and The King

Coolio in the Kitchen!

My kiddos are obsessed with animals. They spent many summer days in the creek at the park by our house catching crawdads and fish and anything else they could find. (They definitely get this from their dad because all of these completely creep me out!) They caught a giant crawdad and called him "The King" because he was huge. They brought him home and put him in our fish tank. Anyways, Marshall and I were watching TV the other day and "The King" crawled right into the family room! (No one else was home but Marshall, 4 and me.) I started screaming and ran to get the net so we could try to catch it. Marshall stayed very calm because he likes the King and I gave him the net and he tried for a few minutes to catch the King but could not because he is so big(the King is huge and gross) so I had to catch him in the net and put him back in the fish tank. When Mark got home he moved him into the turtle tank so hopefully he couldn't get out anymore. (unfortunately, I did not get a picture of the King when he was in the family room, I was too busy freaking out!)

Well, you might have read on Katie's blog about my kids catching a salamander from her pool a few weeks ago. They named him "Coolio". I don't know why? Mark put Coolio in a cage in Mallory's room. (Yes, my beautiful daughter likes these creepy creatures. She had a snake named Gooey in her room until a few months ago when he died. Yes, a snake!) Well the other morning, we were in the middle of the getting ready for school rush and I looked over on the floor and there was Coolio, in the middle of the kitchen floor. Mark was out of town but luckily the boys were home and Max put him back in his cage. I guess Mallory had forgotten to close the lid before she went to bed.

All of these creatures are upstairs in my kiddos rooms so I never would have thought they could climb down they stairs, but apparently they can. So now, I am always on the lookout...

Meagan, HILARIOUS! Yah, I would think it's just a boy thing, but the fact that Mallory likes them is so funny. You're a great mom to let them have all those pets, what lucky kids.

You are much more brave than me. I would not be able to handle The King or Coolio!!

How fun! I wish my kids would like creepy things. I used to when I was a kid. My girls don't like anything like that. Maybe when my boys get bigger. we will see.
You are such a cool mom!

I'm surprised they both survived their journey down the stairs. What are the odds they would come down and not just crawl behind a dresser and hide?

Okay, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who screams and freaks out when I see, well it's moths for me, but "King" creatures.
